BULK BARN
DOLLAR STORE
*Hyperventilates*
BULK BBAAARRRNNN!!
I am kind of ashamed I haven't been to this place earlier. They sell bulk loose tea. BULK LOOSE TEA. There are like sixty kinds of granola. THEY HAVE BRANSTON PICKLE. Seriously, guys, this is like loose-food Nirvana.
Now, I'm not normally a huge bulk-food fanatic. I find most of it is pretty wasteful in the end, since people get suckered in on the whole "OMG BULK = CHEAP" schtick, and then forget bulk only = cheap if you're A) buying the right things, and B) using what you buy. Normally I fall in to the "don't use what I buy and let it go stale in the cupboard" camp. But since the whole "let's put everything in a clear, air-tight container and display it out in the open!" fad I started going through, bulk food just makes sense.
I seriously limited myself on this trip, because I didn't want to overload on stupid things I didn't need just because I was all bulk-food crazy. And especially since I want to have containers available for what I DO buy, since having bulk food in plastic bags in the cupboard makes me irritated to no end, as well as makes a giant mess. So yeah, granola, quick oats, and Honey-Nut Cheerios. We have more pasta in the house than we really need at this point, so NO MORE PASTA for awhile. But it's so good to have on hand, and damn, it was CHEAP [$1 900G Primo Pasta at Price Choppers!]
So, I'm happy. All part of my plan to institute way outrageous shortcuts and easy-options for meals and snacks once Inside Lernout becomes Outside Lernout. When Monster was born, I would end up stuck on the couch for 8 hours at a time, not even really able to get up to get something to eat or drink. Since that won't really be a possibility for most of the days [Monster is in daycare twice a week, the Boy is home on the weekends, but Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays she is ALL MINE], I will have to ensure there are quick snacks on hand AT ALL TIMES.
I wonder if Bulk Barn has whey protein powder...
