jersey: was great! i spent a lot of time tormenting my cousins / hanging out with my parents / shopping. i'm a little sad that i won't get to see them all til thanksgiving (matt is just SO MUCH BIGGER every time i see him! i like tiny children when they're his age, especially when they're fearless little shits) but at least the time until then will be AMAZING. (june: craft month! july: leaky con! august: trying to save some money! september: dragon*con! october: going to wisconsin for two weeks for work! and then it'll be time to go to jersey again!)
work: pregnant!manager is going on maternity leave as of MONDAY, which means i will sort of be in charge til dragon*con! who thinks i will be crying myself to sleep every night come july?!
the windup girl: was so boring! ok, not SO boring. there were interesting parts and some characters i fell in love with and a really hot dub-con sex scene. but otherwise it was a lot of politics and dystopian future and blah blah blah boringcakes. also anderson is a giant bag of dicks.
the particular sadness of lemon cake: I LOVE IT SO MUCH. i nearly finished it today because i just couldn't put it down. it's magical realism (it's about a girl who can taste the emotions of whoever prepared the food she is eating) which i normally am not a huge fan of, but it's really well done and i love the writing style.
sabriel: this is what i ended up taking home with my for plane reading, even though it wasn't brought up in the all day discussion at all. whatever, i really wanted to read lirael and this comes first. plus i love this 'verse and nix's writing a lot.
tv: I LOVED DOCTOR WHO. game of thrones is finally exciting and this season is nearly over! white collar left a bad taste in my mouth! i am watching misfits VERY SLOWLY but i really like it! we started the buffy rewatch again, which is awesome because i love season 3!
craft month: SO FAR SO GOOD. i made one of the things from that craft meme i posted way back, which came out about a bajillion times better than i thought it would. i mean, i'm not particularly modest, i know i make nice crafts and can paint a fun t-shirt, but i took a picture of this item and then almost couldn't believe i didn't buy it in a store. it's going in the mail tomorrowwwwwww. i also sewed myself a little bag for all the dumb work stuff i can never find on my way out the door out of an old t-shirt that i never wear anymore. working with stretchy fabric is hard, y'all.
also, i love my sewing machine. she is the best! i used a machine in my sewing class in middle school, and once in a while i would steal my nana's sewing machine for whatever dumb project i came up with, but i haven't actually used a machine in years and i don't think i've ever really threaded one myself. i had lalasa (yes, i named her) threaded and sewing less than an hour after i took her out of the box. since i now apparently have off this weekend, i am going to clean and maybe look into buying some fabric for that crazy dress i want to make. orlandinians- any recs for fabric shops other than joanns? i mean, i'll probably end up at joanns anyway, but it's a little out of my way. or i might just try my hand at puff sleeves again. that'll only involve a trip to michael's and a desire to EXPERIMENT. (i do not, at all, understand how sleeves work. i'm reasonably clever though, i'm sure i'll figure it out!)
i'm sure there was other stuff but now i'm sick of typing. also i should be in bed.
