i am bad at the internet. i didn't realize doctor who was starting again so soon, and i decided to teach myself an actual song on guitar, so i spent all week working on those two things and not dealing with the internet. WHOOPS. i am kind of caught up on lj again, but i need to set up some filters i think. that took forever.
on doctor who: i am caught up! i actually got caught up late last night at our party, because it took me four goddamn hours to watch waters of mars. but yes. too lazy to type up all the things i've been talking about with people, but i really fucking loved ten and i am enjoying eleven so far and i can actually know what the fuck people are talking about now! huzzah! finishing torchwood this week (started s2 today, so yeah) and then i'm moving on to farscape. maybe i'll watch s2 of being human in the middle. hm.
on our party: we had a stockpot of sangria and a random assortment of food and the sherlock holmes with the t-rex (and the kraken and the iron man and the robot and the dragon and the ill-fitting waistcoats and) and an apartment full of fangirls. it was a ton of fun, obviously. also
these cheesy garlic potatos are amazing. make extra of the filling though, and splurge for the good parm. OM NOM NOM.
on guitar: i am learning brown eyed girl! i'm excited about learning a real song that i know, so i've been practicing for an hour or so every night. it's going pretty well, for certain definitions of well!
on the ingrid michaelson/mat kearney show:
the sara girl who opened for them was kind of adorable and pretty good. much like allison weiss though, i can't wait until she grows up a little and stops writing these kind of generic pop songs about love. then dan romer walked out on stage to put an instrument out (between sets) and i had a minor seizure, so we moved down to the pit, haha. ingrid & company were really good, and i was so happy to see her with the full band (last time there was no bess, no dan, and maybe no elliot? i can't remember. i know kuffner was there, but he might have had the magic drum box.) and they were all adorable and charming, as always. but i mean, the show would have been 1000% better at the social. HOB is so impersonal! ugh. anyway, uh, i freaked out about romer a lot, to the surprise of no one. he had an accordian! he is adorable! he plays everything! #pathetic
so then we moved the party upstairs to watch mat kearney from somewhere less crowded, and ended up with an awesome spot where the acoustics were basically perfect. and then i turned around and kuffner, bess, and romer were chilling at the bar, talking to some girls. i am such a spaz though, and hate talking to people, and hate talking during someone's set even more, and the girls were intimidating cos i'm still in high school, so there was no embarassing myself in front of dan. unless he noticed me turning around every 5.4 seconds, in which case, uh. i'm a creeper. oh well. he shoulder-checked me at one point and i told kl i was going to come home and update my livejournal about how my arm was all tingly. TINGLY ARM. I AM NEVER WASHING THAT CARDIGAN AGAIN. ETC.
anyway, mat sounded really good. he sounded really good last time we saw him there too. but then he covered bruce springsteen, which is definitely Not Okay. (earlier in the night i had declared radiohead covers and poorly-used mandolins off-limits as well.) (and it's not okay cos i hate springsteen with a fiery passion, not because he's too awesome for hipsters or whatever.) it was made okay by romer, elliot, and allie coming out on stage and dancing like total tards though. my glee in that moment cannot be textually rendered. and then blah blah encore dance party blah.
in conclusion, i am stupid amounts of in love with that boy.
on supernatural: *sadface*
on work: i almost made it through a whole week of work without anything stupid happening, and then at 3:45 on friday i got my ass chewed out by 3 of my bosses in front of everyone. GOOD TIMES. it wasn't even really my fault (i had asked someone else to take care of that thing, one of the bosses gave people off for the weekend without looking at the most updated schedule, we had some incorrect info, blah blah) but whatever. i do as much as i can and deal with getting yelled at for the rest.
on books: i no longer have a rage blackout when reading the alanna books! this is pretty amazing, fyi.
on lent: i did pretty good on the not eating meat (i cheated 3 times, i think? maybe 4), and i am probably going to stay like this for a while. not totally a vegetarian, but more aware of what i'm eating and when i can leave the meat out. (which is almost always. my veg meatballs were good, but i didn't like the texture when i was preparing them so i might stick to meat. will probably stop using sausage in the sauce though, since i don't even really eat it since southern sausage is inferior. publix's veg sandwiches are ridiculously hit or miss, but subway's are pretty much always A+. i actually like the veg chicken nuggets and mushroom gravy more than the real chicken nuggets and beef gravy. the veg chili was yummy, and it turns out i like black beans.)
