Water Seeks Its Own Level

I never really understood what the above aphorism meant--didn't water seek the lowest level available, subject to any handy pooling edges that might constrain it againt gravity?--but I was being literalist when the saying is supposed to be metaphorical. It's possible for a "fruitcake" to hang with a "business" type but I don't think it's likely. They'd be the exception to the rule of water seeking its own level.

Well, there is a grey zone. I can think of a few who are fruitcakey in that I don't think they have a very realistic grip on the quality of what they are writing (no, S'Perry, I am NOT looking at you, you paranoiac [grin]), but they are decent people and not prone to ranting about how the Ebil Editers Hate Them.

You have repeatedly stated that you still learn ways to improve your writing. That's not fruitcakey; that's realistic.

(S'Perry's the same...but I know he can be paranoid, and I like to poke at him. ;-)
