I know there are certain words that are overused in fantasy titles. It even has a
title generator to lovingly mock it.
But in the way of these things, the fashions have moved. No so much "dragon" in the titles anymore. All new things to be bored of!
• "City of [noun]": This was interesting the first three times. Please to stop now.
• "Glass" or "Bone" anywhere in the title. (Wow, Cassie Claire's titles were just nicked and reused so hard. It must suck when you get a good title and then it gets wrecked by trends.)
• "The [profession]'s [noun]": Doubly so when "profession" is "king". Quadruply so when the noun is "daughter." (This one is actually quite old, but has recently seen a resurgence.)
• "[thing] of [thing]: I realize banning a preposition is radical, but at this point it doesn't matter how interesting the words are in those "thing" spots.
