Some cool things about working in the publishing industry:
1. Funny connections. For instance, I have designed (as a freelancer) books by folks I know from online, such as
jpsorrow. It just randomly turned up, no conniving of mine required. Also, I just finished writing the comp order for a novel by a new author, and there on her acks page (which I was specking) was a thank you to
nihilistic_kid (among other folks).
Dunno why I think this is neat; I just do.
2. Free-book shelves. After 11.5 years in the industry, I'm pretty immune to them, but recently I found a first edition of Again, Dangerous Visions. Snatched it right up, you bet.
