Last Saturday as I was going into Home Depot, there were some HD folks sitting at a desk by the door and they asked, "Do you have any work you need done around your home?" I had a moment of reflex to say, "No thank you," but then caught myself. "Yes," I said. "I am in desperate need of an electrician right away."
Sunday morning the estimator came out to my house. He took a solid 1.5-2 hours checking out the work that needed doing. Sometimes he would make the tsk-tsk noise, because figuring out how to get the new wiring up and through the house is going to be quite a trick.
Yesterday they sent me an estimate. I called to confirm that the estimate includes everything up to and including running new wire everywhere. They wrote back today to say yes, indeed, it does.
They are scheduled to begin work next Monday, probably continuing into Tuesday. I will not calm down until they are actually done with the work and it comes in on budget. But at least now it's scheduled.
Then the floor guy. He said call him on Friday and he'll be able to tell me when he can begin. I expressed some concern. He said what he meant was he'll know the exact day. Right now he can say it will be the end of next week, but whether that means Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday is less certain. Okay, I can live with that.
I need to get movers lined up, too. End of the month is hard to do. Thank goodness October is a generally slow month for moving companies.
