There have been times in my life when I needed a vacation more than I do right now, but not many.
Sometimes work is a game of whack-a-mole: a million different things pop up and I spend all day smacking them down.
Today it is a not-very-funny comedy of errors. Three or four things that keep crossing wires and miscommunicating until the email chain threatens to crash the server. THIS IS WHY PUBLISHING NEEDS FULL TIME EMPLOYEES IN ADJACENT OFFICES. Because sometimes communicating at a distance fucks everything up when a simple walk down the hall would settle it quickly.
I would describe today as "running around trying to put out practical-joke candles." You know, the sort that look as if they've been extinguished, but as soon as you turn around, they burst into flame again.
