You know, the actual "writing" part.
So I've done a little figuring. I want Nuns to have a first draft around 80K words (though I suspect it will be shorter; I always write short and add later).
5000 / 80000 words. 6% done!
I would like to finish the 0th draft by the end of the year, and then the first draft (that can be seen by People Who Are Not Me) finished by April 30, 2012.
I fully expect to fail in this goal. Pessimists are never disappointed, only pleasantly surprised. I will be satisfied if I have a 0th draft by next April.
ANYway, to do that, I need about 500* words/day, excluding weekends. Experience tells me I can maintain 300 words/day for a couple of months. I can maintain 500 words/day for about a month and then I need a break. So this is not good, going by past performance. (Thus my expectation of failure.)
So now I will consider the challenge to myself to see how long I can write regularly, every day or almost every day, getting at least 100 words down. Any progress is good progress.
*Yes, I realize I'm overestimating. I need those lies to myself. Don't tell me the truth, okay?
