An unsolicited endorsement
A couple of months back, autopope mentioned a product called YakTrax. For the fifteen bucks, I figured what the hell and decided to try them. Today was the first snowfall where I had them with me.

Not so great when I went into the coffee shop--they don't do well on tile floors--but out on the sidewalks? Kickass! I strode right past a couple of people gingerly picking their way along.
It was like the scene in the bus depot The Transporter, where Jason Statham is fighting all those guys in the oil and straps the bicycle pedals to his toes (only with less fighting).
