The Times has an article today about students at Columbia university being arrested for drug dealing.
Times mentions that it's notable for a drug bust to happen at Columbia, but is unclear as to why this is unusual.
"In the annals of notorious New York City drug cases, these suspects seem somewhat unremarkable, but for one thing: their Ivy League clients."
Um, what? Is the Times expressing surprise that students at an Ivy League university would be using and selling drugs?
Maybe they're expressing surprise that the police went after privileged kids instead of poor folks. I just can't tell. It reads as though the article wasn't written by the same person who wrote the headline and the lede.
