I would give you a pass for not spotting a subtle spelling error like that, except that
(a) you're a freaking copyeditor and it's your job to spot it, and
(b) I spotted it and I'm not even reading the thing, just glancing over the pages looking for typesetting problems.
This is why so many incompetents with Dunning-Kruger syndrome think they can copyedit. Because some incompetents do.
