A personal weirdness.
I'm not much interested in finance. If I really enjoyed the stuff, I would have gone to Wall Street and become one of those folks currently despised for getting immorally large bonuses. (I'm good at math. I'm good at games. I'd have done well.)
BUT. I do obsessively (i.e. check at least once per weekday) follow three economic thingies:
The Dow, the price of gold, and the value of the dollar vs the pound and euro.
There isn't a simple relationship between any of these things (though gold and the Dow loosely tend to go in opposite directions), but for some reason it amuses me to follow them. No, I don't know what that means. It's just a quirk.
