Wow, the stuff we assume...

Got the results of my tests from the doctor. Normal and boring. With one startling exception:

I am low in Vitamin D.

Wow. I drink a lot of milk, which in the USA is always fortified with D. The test was done back in November, about a month after I got back from my sunny vacation in the Mediterranean. But sunblock can interfere in the production of Vitamin D, and I was armored in SPF-50 the whole time.

I gotta stop being such a hermit. The PA was like, "You can get supplements at the drugstore." And I said, "They don't come much whiter than me. I think I'll just make myself go for a walk on sunny days."

Wow. Side effect of working in an office all day with the shades down. At my old place I got about 20 minutes/day in my office during the winter months, which apparently was sufficient.

Since Vit D deficiency is a contributing factor in things that I'm at higher risk for to begin with, this is actually important. Lack of vit D would also explain my achy joints and muscles recently--a much better explanation than "you're not sixteen anymore."

I think I will go outside right now. I don't care how cold it is.
