According to the NY Times, men's fashion is going steadily back to the late Victorian era. (In a good way. The hipster guys are, apparently, going in for ultra-retro looks, and the fashion designers are following--or leading--gleefully. As long as they don't bring back women's corsets, I'm all for it.)
According to my instructor, who teaches in a well-regarded art university's jewelry arts program, young jewelry designers who aren't SF/F geeks are picking up on the "antique machine" aesthetic.
Looks like we may yet move into a cyberpunk world.
