I am ded of teh laughter.
So I'm going through job applications, and I come to a candidate who has submitted only his resume, no cover letter, so already I've mentally round-filed him. His resume did have some editing experience on it, though, so I thought, What the hell, take a glance at his application form.
The top of the form is a series of general data questions: name, address, contact info. It also asks, "Do you have the right to work in the US?"--basically, are you a citizen or someone with a green card or work visa, as opposed to an illegal alien or here on a student visa.
The next question, sensibly enough, is: "If you have a Visa, indicate Visa Type and Number."
...and this candidate wrote: "Debit Card - [his 16-digit card number]"
It took me five minutes before I could stop howling long enough to tell my staff what was so funny. I was disappointed that he didn't fill in the "Visa Expiration Date" that we also ask for.
I wonder what he was thinking as he typed that in. "Gee, I wonder what they need this for?"
