It was sunny and a little breezy this mornin' when I rode out about 10am. I was going to ride over to Caliatoga and back, but I didn't feel up to it so I rode over to The River instead. Forestville was a mess of traffic and detours. Their annual parade goes right down the highway through town. And I arrived just as it started!
I stopped at the Rio Nido Post Office to pick up the mail and see Patty and Robert [Wilson, not James]. They both oooed and ahed over Misfit [my bike]. That felt good. We talked a bit about some nutty woman in Rio Nido who posted flyers around town accusing another woman of hexing her and using black witchcraft. Ya just gotta know that Rio Nido attracts all kinds of nuts.
On to Guerneville where I noticed that the store I get my levis at is going out of business. The proprietor said after 23 years she just can't make it a go in this economic climate. She was making one last levis order, so I ordered a pair.
I then rode over to Vacation Beach [the south side of the river] to stop in an see Noni and Sterling. Noni wasn't there, but Sterling showed me his latest project which involved slabs of redwood 6 inches thick, 18-24 inches wide and 10-17 feet long. He cut them from dead stumps and trees felled by PG&E. He's making some bar tops and tables for a couple of local inns.
I rode back home, avoiding downtown Forestville this time, going through Fulton and on to Santa Rosa.
After some fooling around and a nap Duke changed the spark plugs in his bike while I cleaned and oiled the chain on mine. We then rode down to Black Bear Dinner in Rohnert Park for dinner. When we got home Duke wasn't feelin' so well, so he took a nap. I checked all the nuts and bolts for tightness on Misfit and then cleaned him up all shiny and purdy.
