Train Trippin'

Monday and Tuesday will be very busy gettin everything together and ready to go for Wednesday AM, when I leave on a 10 day trip via Amtrak. I'm lookin forward to visitin with envirobear in Chicago and then to Kansas City for a visit with my friend Scott from OK City. If ya never have ridden the train cross-country , it's a vastly different experience from drivin and flyin. No sleeper berth for me - the coach seats are very comfortable [even for sleepin], the club car has large windows with seats facin them for views and vistas, and people are sociable.

I originally planned to visit envirobear in Chicago on the way to attend my mom's family reunion in that little corner of South Carolina between North Carolina and Georgia. The roadblocks to this began early and just kept mountin.

The train schedules don't always allow for short layovers when changin trains. So over night stays and hotels rooms would be required in Washington DC, New Orleans, and Los Angeles, and there is never a Motel 6 near the train station. A stop over in North Carolina for visitin and rentin of a car to the reunion proved to be more expensive that I originally thought.

With the reunion scheduled for the last week-end of June, and a wantin to visit with Scott in OK City, I would be able to get back home for the 4th of July - a holiday that broduke2000 have spent together for the last 15 years, I couldn't miss that.

The last straw - I called my aunt to tell her I was goin to attend the reunion, which is held at her place. I don't push the fact that I'm gay, nor to I try to hide it. I'm not ashamed of it, it is a natural part of my life and a treat it as such. She asked about my friend in New Orleans and had she gotten out before Katrina [she did and is living not too far from here]. Then my aunt went on and on - God destroyed New Orleans because it was a sinful city and "I would live in California if you gave it to me" and on and on and on. This was the aunt I suspected of sending me the "Devil Book" You can read about that Devilish Rat. I continue to receive monthly newsletters from this same church.

I decided that God was tellin me not to visit my aunt or attend the family reunion, since they misunderstand him/her and think only of judgment and punishment. So I shortened my trip and am lookin forward to fun with two friends and a relaxin train trip.
