this awesome entry in which she described her relationship with two of the works of fiction she's a fan of, and their fans, by personifying the two fandoms and telling a story. I was inspired to do the same.
kawaiigami , this one's for you.
(The Inception characters and I are hanging around in my head, watching the season premiere of "House" on TV. The episode ends. The House characters enter.)
House: So, what did you think?
Me: (smiles, nods) So far, so good. I like what's going on, but I have the same problem with this arc as I did at the end of last season. "You're the most incredible man I've ever known," Cuddy says - I really would have liked to have seen some more onscreen evidence and development of that over the last six seasons. To be fair, though, there were plenty of other things going on to devote screen time to.
Chase: Yeah, there were.
Me: (gets up, gives each House character a hug) It's so good to see you again! It's been a long summer. I've missed you.
House: (looking around the room at the Inception characters) It looks like you've made some new friends over the summer.
Me: Yeah. I guess I should introduce you properly. Dominic Cobb, Dr. Gregory House.
House: (to Cobb) Just House, please.
Cobb: (nods) Just Cobb.
House: So what's your story?
Cobb: (silence)
Me: I think it would be best if you guys went and watched the movie. They don't want to talk about it, especially not with people they just met, and I would probably leave something out.
House: Okay.
(The following evening:)
House: Barbara!
Me: Yeah?
House: The new episode was on last night and you haven't said two words to me or any of the others all day. (pauses, looks at me) I see that look in your eyes, that manic half-smile. You're in love.
Me: Yes, I am.
House: ...Is it as good as it was with us?
Me: Yeah. It is. Has been for the last month and a half now. I can't stop thinking about them and their world, just like I couldn't last year with you and yours.
House: We saw the movie. (looks significantly over at Cobb, then back at me) You certainly seem to have a type.
Me: Yeah, I guess I do.
House: Go ahead. Just say it.
Me: (sighs) Your show was more interesting when it prominently featured you and your hallucinations. BUT! I'll have you know that I have a crossover fic planned, based on exactly the similarity that I think you're thinking of.
House: You still care? Enough to start writing about us?
Me: Yes, I do still care. And as I'm sure you recognize, your story and his just scream "crossover" to me.
House: I just want to see the Amber-versus-Mal catfight.
Me: (laughs) Oh, please! No, no, there isn't going to be any of that. It'll probably be angsty, but it'll be good. I promise. It may take a while, though. I only know about what happened to you through summaries I've read, and through TVTropes. I haven't actually watched those episodes yet.
House: Well, what are we waiting for?
(I go off to rewatch Season 4 of "House")
