Hear Hear!

So there has been a lot of crap on the airways re:McCrystal and the Rolling Stone reporter who wrote the piece that brought him down, Michael Hastings.

If you haven't heard, basically this is the third or fourth time actually that General McCrystal has been seen/heard saying impolitic things publically about the civilian command and these things were kind of uncool and it's actually against the military rules to do that so he got busted. There are more indepth analysis but that's it in a nutshell. You can agree or disagree but that's not what I wanna post about here.

What I think is fascinating is the GINORMOUS pile on that has been happening to the reporter at Rolling Stone. Reporters everywhere are all, "Dude...should you have done that?" I read the piece...There's quite a bit to say about what is going on in Afghanistan but is anyone paying attention to that?

Anyway Matt Taibbi, occasional douche but entertaining writer, wrote a blog post about one such example and it's epic. Here's a quote I love in particular:

As to this whole "unspoken agreement" business: the reason Lara Logan thinks this is because she's like pretty much every other "reputable" journalist in this country, in that she suffers from a profound confusion about who she's supposed to be working for. I know this from my years covering presidential campaigns, where the same dynamic applies. Hey, assholes: you do not work for the people you're covering! Jesus, is this concept that fucking hard?
