This little bit of video if you haven't seen it yet totally made me cry.
Basically the back story is that Monday night, April 6, was the first time the Iowa Senate discussed the unanimous decision by the Iowa Supreme Court to allow same sex couples to marry.
Senate Minority Leader Paul McKinley demanded a resolution that would start the process of amending the constitution and noted that Gronstal voted for the ban on gay marriage way back in 1998. During the discussion, Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal of Council Bluffs made clear he would not agree to suspend the rules to allow a vote on an amendment to reverse the court decision.
Here is Gronstal's response and it's pretty great.
