So, when I first got Adrien and carried him with me everywhere, my mom made a few cracks about him being possessed and stuff. She was joking, and really, with all the Twilight Zone and X-Files we watch, I saw the rather dark humor in it. But as I tote him around, I realize how incredibly LIFELIKE he is, and now I can see how other people could be afraid of BJDs. He always seems to be looking at something--not staring blankly into space, like a fashion or porceline doll, but really seeing things; his cute little face always seems to change expression with a simple change in light or position.
Far from being creeped out by the seeming life within a lifeless thing, however, I find it amusing. Maybe I'm just weird, but finding inanimate objects to be strangely animate has been a little specialty of mine since I was small. I used to hold lengthy conversations with my stuffies; when my computer messes up, I yell and curse as if it had just insulted my family lineage; and when I start running low on gas, I promise my car that if it will just run on E for another five minutes, we'll be at the gas station. Hey, it works for me.
Hmm...I need to go up to the studio this evening and work on a new painting, plus I really should snag some more linoleum for my printmaking class. =/ Ugh, school is really fucking expensive. I need to get a new job.
Which is what I'll be doing all this weekend, actually. Job hunting, that is. Wish me luck--I'm hoping to get hired on at one of the local bookstores. Books-A-Million employee discount, c'mon! =O
I'm tiiiiiiiired. I haven't been sleeping well at night lately. I keep waking up for no reason at all, and it's hard for me to doze back off. The bags under my eyes have gotten considerably worse. D= I'm starting to look like Faust VIII.
