Once more, with less babbling, though I can't promise to be too coherent after reading for basically eleven hours straight.
I'll say it straight away - I actually really loved it, and in the afterglow of the first read, I'd probably be willing to pronounce it my favorite.
There were scenes especially in the first part that dragged on, but overall, once the action came, it came good and hard... you know how I meant that. Yes, the epilogue was very saccharine, but the actual finale felt as epic as it should be, even though I sorta kinda had to agree with Voldemort's annoyance with love.
Despite the ending, the sweet happy end, it definitely was more young adult literature than a children's book; not only from the general dark tone of despair and paranoia and fear, but also the little details - the increased swearing (arse! BITCH!), everyone chugging booze left and right, the subtle hint at, er, intimate shaving...
As I said, I wasn't happy with everything - the Tonks/Lupin subplot still annoyed the hell out of me, and while I was happy that Snape got his redemption ultimately, it was sappy, as well.
But overall? Love Appreciation.
...
Sorry to those who expected me to shout obscenities and randomly wish death on Ann Coulter.
I can do the latter for free, though ^_^ !
