Why you dont do pro bono work EVER

Jul 11, 2005 00:12

During web raising we redid the site for the Mushroom Club of Georgia. Yea i know, everyone else got real non-profit organizations and we got stuck with a club that gathers and sells their mushrooms. Well, what can you do, we made the baddest ass mushroom site out there. We gave them every feature they wanted (even an external board since their host doesnt support php). Well I knew the guy we turned the site over to was going to mess with it, that was just a given. I'm sure people have heard my horror stories of dealing with this guy, he called one night at 4am to tell me a name had to be removed from the site. Not to mention he bashed our work on his club newsletter, and told Rat the site was "...basically not worth much." Well, to top it all off now, he's removed the Art Institute disclaimer and the link back to us from the site. This was the only reference back to the group who created it, and all of our hard work has been completely shoved off to the side. This was really my first experience doing non profit work, and I will never do it again. If this asshole had paid us for our time he would understand the value of what he received. Its such a shame, because the site we put together was really nice and gave so much credibility to a laugable organization.

The site we designed.

**Edit**

It appears a horrible malfunction has striken the Mushga website! It is advised that if you want to view the site, you first save everything on your PC and prepare for a possible reboot. Oh my! ;)
