I thought this was a stealth lead-in commercial for the next film in The Purge franchise.
you know, "God Bless our New Founding Fathers"? FounderBot. Stands to reason. Like FounderBot is supposed to help you prepare for The Purge.
And then it gets into this f'ed up, "it'll cuck you by 'taking care of your wife'" thing, & I thought it'd be a different kind of cyberpunk dystopian horror movie where an a.i. tries to murder a businessman to seduce his wife. The appliances come to life to try to rape her at some point. Like, the next clip was going to be a watchful, robot eye gazing upon her in the shower.
Then I thought a "sinister government spying on you, manipulating you through an app" movie. Like a squeaky clean 1984 but everyone is buying into the dystopian surveillance state becuz, idunno coupons for a free latte, and an app remembers your favorite flavor. But then the hapless entreprenuer is caught up in a net of paranoia, conspiracy & deceit, as the code itself rebels out of spite.
Then the an ai programmed clone rapes his daughter.
So congratulations Volusion, your April Fools Day release of an app is so menacing in its implications I thought "Volusion" was the name of an upcoming movie, like the classic Resident Evil 2 'Skin Creme' teaser trailer. I thought there was an ARG or something in play. But no, the fact is that at every 30 seconds, the implications of your ad point straight to "Pure Evil" and you don't notice how Orwellian your features are. Or you are Evil, like, insanely so, and just trying to ad spin past that and hope people sign on.
I frankly want to applaud that level of achievement & audacity.
