having a clean head of (45% natural) hair.
Made one final store run to stock up on candy, drink, bread and quick gas up. I have to stay with Dad for a few more days, at least two of them not by choice, and hopefully with plenty of power, so I need my fix.
A sign that people here aren't freaking as much as I expected: no lines at the gas stations or in the gorcery stores. For two days running. In the county above us, it's a different story....though it's expected to go past them as well, though closer (obviously). Only three houses in my neighborhood even have shutters up- though some hadn't taken them down from Rita. I only moved the plants under the overhang on our patio and moved like two pieces of lawn furniture. We have had a relatively spartan patio scheme since Andrew took our patio screen away with the wind in '92, which works in our favour.
Everyone is just storm weary and over dramatic news-ed out down here that they just can't be bothered, in all fairness. The newscaters here don't help with the 'serious' tone and 'dramatic' pauses. Oy *vey*. (Yes, I just had a Yiddish moment.) It does get on your nerves after a while and you want to phase out.
frackattack and some other storm vics from this year can relate to this. No wonder people get tore up during these things. If I did that, I'd be knocked out for hours. Giggly, then giddy, then sleepy. You know.....that's an idea....I do have some rum in the cabinet.....
Anyhoo. :)
I am off to make a sandwich and make my stomach stop growling....
