Today was my 'be free' day, and I spent it concerting up in West Palm Beach (about 80 miles or so from my house) with a former co-worker. It was Projekt Revolution and it was 11 bands over 2 stages.
Oh- we got rained on. Twice. :) With any luck I won't come down with anything.
Anyhoo, we made an early day of it, and left my end of town by 9 a.m., arriving around 10:30 or thereabouts. It was already 94 degrees when I left home, and it was hot all damn day. (When it wasn't raining.) We bought some band stuffs (Placebo and concert shirts, and a HIM pin/sticker set for me, a concert shirt and My Chemical Romance shirt and poster for her), then proceeded to wander about, half listening to the bands on the smaller (Revolution) stage, one of whom we'd seem before this year, and none others that I was interested in hearing, so we waited to get a spot on the lawn (next time I swear I getting reserved seats, especially with all the rain)...and the sun came out with a *venegance*. I know I must have sunburned already, I can feel me *feet* hurting.
Okay, a rundown of the Main stage performers:
Julien-K: containing one half of the group Orgy, Ryan Shuck handles the voices, and he's a damn fine singer too. You'd never know from the background stuff he does on Orgy albums. Their music has a strong industrial/electro sound to it That I found appealling (and any band who writes about a strip club is tops for me, the Crue nonwithstanding).
Placebo: Great band, great set, did all the faves and a good cross section all their albums as well in such a short set. Steve was shirtless (yipes!) and Stef and Brian were both in white shirts and black pants. LOVED this set.
H.I.M.: *sigh* Ville as ever in top voice, though skinnier than I've seen him in a while. They played two new songs from the new cd. He had great stage patter as ever....suffice it to say, only he could list 'having a circle jerk' as a pasttime for his bandmates. LOL
Taking Back Sunday: I was the least familiar with this band out of all six I saw, but they had good tunes, and the lead singer is the most adorable geek in the world, which makes him tops for me.
My Chemical Romance: My friend's fave band. Second time in a year I have seen them, and I do believe this show was stronger than the tour was. Gerard was definately more cheeky this time as well- he started touching himself, going, "First base....second base...." My jaw dropped a mile. Fucking illegal I swear. My friend was loving every minute of it, as you can imagine.
Linkin Park: Basically the headliners of the tour. I found I knew more of thier songs than I had thought. Chester has some fucking leather lungs on him. They put on an energetic and impressive show as well, with good use of lights and a/v.
We hung out for a bit before we decided to head on home- it was late and we had a long drive back, anyways. We stopped for food and she dropped me home, where I immediately showered and washed my hair before I ate. I'll probably turn in soon because I am WIPED and I need it. And I am sunburnt again.
Mum is still doing well. That's a good thing.
