My Mix cd!
This should be interesting to write..... :)
1. A song from an artist you learned about for the first time in the last year: Japan, 'Love is Infectious'. I got hipped to this band by a few LJ Duran fans, and I am still kicking myself as to why I never got into them before. The album this song is from is brilliant.
2. A song that brings to mind the word "freedom": 'Kiss the Dirt (Falling own the Mountain)' by INXS. (You'll see a lot of them on this list.) This is here because of the memories I have of the video- lots of outdoors and desert and heat. Very open and spacious. One line, 'Look a little closer/ sometimes it wouldn't hurt' just says it all to me.
3. A song that brings to mind the word "friend": 'Waiting for You' by Seal. It sounds ambigious, but it's actually a real cool song. I think of people having my back when I hear this song. Besides, Seal sings his ass off on this track.
3. A song that by the artist you'd most want to hang out with : David Bowie, "Modern Love". The man is just the coolest person in my mind in life. One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite singers.
4. A song that can make you cry: 'Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS. Michael Hutchence was one of my all times crushes, and the first time I heard this song, I teared up something terrible. I still get a little misty when I hear the intro. I know it's corny, but I am allowed.
5. A song that is the best cover in your collection: 'Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)' by Duran Duran. A live verison that rocked my world the first time I heard it on the radio. Next to 'White Lines', probably the best cover they ever did. I have to admit I like it more than the original. :)
6. A song that is your favorite from your favorite band : 'New Moon on Monday' by Duran Duran. Another song by this band, one of my childhood faves. I can't describe how happy this song makes me feel even after all these years.
7. A song that is your favorite song of the moment: 'The Denial Twist' by the White Stripes. I love the White Stripes. Enough said. Jack White is my crush, even with that 'tash.
8. A song that makes you laugh and laugh: 'Detachable Penis' by King Missle. The local college radio station used to play this when I was in high school, and what is funnier than a dude who wakes up after a party and can't recall where he left his...err...'member'? :) I giggle every time I hear it.
9. A song that makes you want to dance like the Peanuts Gang: 'Needles in the Camel's Eye' by Brian Eno. I admit I barely know the words to this song apart from the chorus, but I'll be damned if I don't dance about like a fool whenever I hear it. Glam rock always does that for me.
10. A song that reminds you of your first love: 'Don't Cry' by Seal. My first love was a painful one and happened when I was in junior high and it took me years to get over it. This Seal song actually has taken me through manyy broken hearts/crushes ever since.
11. A song that you listen to when you need solace:"Beautiful Girl' by INXS. Yes, another INXS song. But this is such a pretty song and Michael sings it so sweetly. And how can you hate a song that was written for a baby girl? S'wonderful.
12. A song that you would play at the end of a hard day:'Don't Lose Your Head' by INXS. Sometimes I play it *before* a hard day. Either way you go, can't go wrong with a funky song like this.
13. A song that you'd play when you're getting frisky with your special someone : 'Back Into Your Heart' by Chris Botti. This is an instrumental song (he's a trumpeter), and for some reason, I just get very giddy and get too many ideas. :)
14. A song that you'd sing at karaoke: 'Seven Nation Army' by the White Stripes. Haven't done it yet, but it's giving me ideas!
15. A song that you've heard and loved live (the live or studio version): 'Maybe I'm Amazed' by Paul McCartney. I love both verisons of this song and the only song that feels and sounds so fresh to me after all these years.
