In terms of entertainment business/politics, I'm generally ready to attribute that to just traditional Asian culture. Why don't we have our own Jesse Jackson? Cesar Chavez? Where's our fucking NAACP? It's dues to thousands of years of calm passivity ingrained by Confucius/Taoist culture. In alot of East Asian philosophy, we do politics differently, not necessarily with the cutthroat methods American politics demand. And contrary to popular opinion, that is NOT negative. Our culture is different...so what? Cast off thousands of years of heritage from our forefathers and adopt to the anglo-American ideals?
As Asian-Americans, its difficult to find that middle ground between our blood heritage and the emerging American global culture. Stuck within the confines of our old culture, women would never attend college. In the confines of American culture, we'll let go of age-old family traditions.
And I have to disagree with ur disappointment with blacks. The fact that you think that way about blacks is probably because the media has perpetuated those stereotypes for so long that you've attributed them to the entire black population. Some blacks u may encounter in real life may believe that it's the way they're supposed to act. Don't let the media get to you.
Watch Spike Lee's Bamboozled or Do the Right Thing and you'll see what I mean.

my heart skips a couple beats and then reaches near heartache everytime i think about how near american idol is to reaching my television screen. i kid. kind of =)

and steph, i'm nervous in that this weekend, I suddenly remembered all the very very idiotic things I said on-camera that I thought would be stupid enough for them to show on tv.
