Eventful Weekend

My saturday was spent at the REEK Run - not running of course. The run was to help support local art and I was there as a volunteer to help with emergency communications. Basically if anyone got hurt near my area I had a way to contact EMTs. Luckily the worst injury of the day was a girl who hurt her ankle but was able to finish the race.
After that I got to buy some new school clothes. I got a very bright, and cute, pair of orange capris. Me and Rob decided that since I have to wear a black shirt to school everyday I might as well have colorful pants to balance it out. I also got a comfy pink shirt to wear on orientation day (this wednesday) because I wanted to look pretty for first impressions. Oh, and last thursday I went shoe shopping, normally I sadish event. You see, I have huge feet that are perfect for my height but sad for girly shoes. With a lot of uncomfortablness I can shove my feet into a woman's size 12 sometimes, so normally I just stick with boy shoes where I also wear a size 12 (or 13 depending of the shoe). This isnt too bad, but it does leave me without many cute/girlie options. So, while looking through the boy section at the Vans store what do I see? Pink and black shoes! I couldnt believe they had pink and black shoes in guy sizes, but they did and I bought them and was in shoe bliss.

My sunday was spent driving to Modesto to see me cousin. I felt weird going to see her because we wouldnt have been going if her son hadnt just died... its like, why dont we visit regularly, why only when something bad happens? It bugged me, but I wanted to see her anyways. I had been wanting to visit for a long time, but I dont have a car and would need someone to take me and its near possible. Anyhow, she seemed alright but I am a bit worried anyways. You see, she made comments about how she wouldnt mind dying now because she would be with her son. However, she has another son who needs her... but I am sure she will be alright. She is a very good mother, she is just sad right now. I love her, she is my favorie cousin. And if you want to get techincal she isnt my cousin. She is actually my grandmother's stepmom's niece's daughter. Now, her mom was basically adopted by my grandma's parents so they we more or less sisers so that makes my cousin pretty much my mom's cousin. However, their is a pretty good sized age difference and my mom helped raise my cousin (even though she was only a teenager, she did have me at 16 so she was a mom). So, my cousin grew up calling my grandma "grandma" too, and calling my mom "auntie" and calling me "cousin" - so thats what we are, more or less. I have no idea what the point of rambling all that out was other than I find the way we are related interesting.
