My Day at the VA

Dec 13, 2008 04:26

so I have a 2:30pm appointment at the VA to get my CPAP machine looked at. I got myself a new spiffy Auto CPAP and a new Gel Fit mask.  The machine is a nice new one, and should work out better than my old one.  The mask is one of those Gel masks , you take out the gel and put it in hot water, fit it to face, then put in cold water to set it.  I've always used a full face mask due to having bad sinuses. I wear one that covers down and hooks under the chin, it's been the best fit for me so far.  This new one, does not cover down to the chin, it's more of the size that you would see on a respritory bottle/bag/thing for administrating air.  I tried it tonight while bedtime #1.  It seems ok, now that there is the gel, because it rides upwards a bit resting right below my lower lip.  This problem happened last time I tried this type and by a few days, the pressure on my lower lip got to be painful.

So after this appointment, I roll on to the ER to get my feet looked out.  Sign in, wait.. wait... Get called back for Triage, have bp of 169/105 - not good, EKG time.  So I get hooked up to the Machine sans shaving my chest.  EKG showed NSR and so I'm told I'm going ot be taken back and get looked at by the doc.  So I get setup in a Chair in the hallway with a sign on the wall calling it Hallway 104.  So here I sit in a big chair, dangling my legs, and in goes the IV tube thing, on goes the BP Cuff and the Pulse Ox monitor.  Long story short - I'm sitting in that chair till 8pm.  All I'm told is my bloodwork was fine, not showing any traces of the stuff that is put in your bloodstream after heart issues.  Chest Xray is clean.  I'm told that I'm getting a Consult setup with Cardio and pick up some stockings(something that makes circulation in feet better).  So basically, blood is pooling in my feet cuz there is some circulation issue going on.  These stockings, from what I gather, are some tight socks that help force the blood up and out of the feet.  Anyway - the doctor couldn't answer wether or not my feet are ever going to be normal sized again. Ah well. More as it develops.
