On the back nine...

Well the semester is officially half over now. Actually, as of tomorrow, it's more than half over. There're about 45 days until the end of the semester, and then of course there are 7 days until I start my NEXT semester, so it's not like that's a hugely exciting thing. I think my last six or seven posts have all been about school, and while that might be boring for everyone reading, it feels pretty good to me. I'll try to mix this one up though at the end.

School IS going well though. It was my goal since about halfway through last semester to make dean's list this year, and I need a 3.6 for the whole year to do it. I got a 3.8 last semester, and right now in two of my classes I think I have around a 3.9, in another I have around a 3.6 and in my astronomy class I probably have a 3.0. If I can hold those numbers to the end of the semester, I'll get what I want. I have to register in less than two weeks for both summer and fall classes next year. It's a little crazy to think that I'll be registering in one shot for the classes that'll take me to my last semester, and then it's time to graduate. I have to start studying this summer for the GRE and the LSAT as well. I've decided to take both to keep my options as wide open as possible. I'm also going to take a swing at getting an internship this summer, but I have no idea how hard it will be to get, and if I don't get it, I'll still be going to school full time, so that's fine.

I've been thinking more and more lately about maybe going to grad school for history, and then looking into Phd program so I can teach college. Something about being a lawyer sounds interesting, because I think it'll get me eventually to the money and maybe into politics, and I do like the research and case building aspect of it, but history is just so much fun, for all the work it is, and I think it'll be hard to let go of. I'm totally off the idea of teaching high school, and I thought that I'd settled on law school as my path of choice, but I have so much fun in my history classes, and I think about teaching the same material myself and it feels a lot more fulfilling than law school. I don't know, I still have quite a bit of time before I have to decide, I just need to make sure I keep my options open.

Other than school, I went on "winter" break last week down to Florida to visit Colleen in Tampa. It was a lot of fun. The weather was absolutely amazing. We went kayaking, went to a nice relatively low key bar for some pool, went to Busch Gardens, hung out at her friend Heather's house, and some other stuff. It was really relaxing. Much as I love Michigan, home, my family/friends etc, It's been a little while since I've gotten away from everything, and I also didn't realize how burned out I was with school and work. It made me seriously consider paying hard core attention to good law or grad schools somewhere down south. Might be nice to get away from the weather for a couple years before coming back to it. Anyway that was nice, and it was great to see Colleen again, it'll be cool when she's temporarily back in the Mitten before going off to the Peace Corps.

Now I plunge myself back into another two months of school work. Huzzah!
