"i mentioned to anna that my coworkers were fasting which she thought of as stupid and unhealthy. unfortunately anna has no idea what fasting means in teh catholic context. it means basically one meal a day or a reduced meal, without beast or fowl but it can mean anything you want. its just a method of purifying yourself. basically if you satiate yourself with food then it leaves you open to certain other pleaures. when you deny yourself food, it opens up your senses to other things. its too bad that anna is too much of a bigot. c'est la vie."
