"I Do"

Title: "I Do."

Rating: PG-13

Summary: Tony has a question for Bruce. Neither of them are really sure how serious he is. Neither of them really care.

Author's Notes: Oops, I made a Stanner. I've been so nervous about this because I'm new to the Marvel universe, and Tony's voice is so specific and I don't do science, but this was sort of an accident and I think I like it. Con crit very welcome.

“Do you promise to be my faithful lab partner, in failures and inventions, to have and to experiment with, until Pep gets tired of explosions and makes us surface for air?”

Bruce tried to supress a smile, quietly amused as he switched around a few measurements and watched the resulting projection play out on the screen in front of him. After a long moment of silence, he lifted his head to find Tony staring at him expectantly and realised he was supposed to answer.

“Sure,” He shrugged, lips curving upwards. “I do.”

Tony beamed and before Bruce could protest he grabbed the scientist’s hand and carefully pushed something onto his ring finger. Bruce huffed when he realised it was one of the circular bolts from the worktable. Tony just grinned and babbled something about spring weddings and hulk-sized veils.

After a little while Bruce’s finger started to throb, and so as to not hurt Tony’s feelings he tried to subtly slip the bolt off, only to find it was completely stuck. Glancing down he noticed his finger had turned a rather brilliant shade of purple, and while he wasn’t exactly a stranger to turning weird colours he thought that maybe that would pose a problem.

“Uh, Stark? Little help?” Bruce abandoned all attempts at subtlety, tugging at his finger to no avail. Tony looked stricken as he rushed to find metal-cutters. Bruce smirked down at his work.

“Not exactly the best start to a marriage.”

“So you admit this is a type of marriage?” Tony moved back to his side with a few tools, checking against his hands for the right size. “Being science partners is serious business.”

“So what new territory comes with being science husbands?” Bruce questioned.

“Oh, the usual. No experimenting with other scientists. Publishing studies together. 24/7 snuggling privileges.”

“…What?” Bruce looked up with a frown. “Snuggling-“

“Watch fingers,” Tony tutted, swatting Bruce until he was still, and snapped the metal band with a sense of finality. “Just, uh, don’t let that be a symbol of our relationship, ‘kay?”

“Mmm,” Bruce hummed, rubbing the circulation back into his sore finger.

“I’ll make a better ring. A stretchy one.”

“Uh huh,” Bruce nodded absentmindedly. “Don’t forget to make yourself one.”

“Not for me thanks. Jewellery gets in the way of the suit.”

“Excuse me?” Bruce met Tony’s eyes, face straight. “Do you really think I’m going to let you go out amongst all of S.H.I.E.L.D.S.’ scientists without them knowing that you’re mine?”

Tony sucked in a breath, eyebrows shooting upwards.

“Possessive,” He noted. “It’s always the quiet ones…”

“Two rings, Tony,” Bruce ordered, trying to hide his grin.

“On it.”
