My wife loves Le Miserables, so we've seen the Liam Neeson version of the movie several times. I tried to read the book, and felt like it bogged down in excessive descriptive detail.

I like Charles Dickens style (very descriptive) and really enjoy "Tale of Two Cities" (heh, same era as "Les Mis'") and "A Christmas Carol", as well as others. But "The Hobbit" and "Chronicles of Narnia" are imaginative and have lots of action, so they're favourites, too.
However, there are dozens of other good books that they haven't even mentioned. Don't you agree?
