Um. Sometimes I stay late at work. I run gels. I process blood. I update LJ.
I am a scientist?
In other news, it has rained here in Seattle for 25 days straight. Granted, it has not rained ALL day every day, but there's a bunch of water on the ground. I hear that we (and by we, I mean Mother Nature) are going to break some "consecutive days rained" record that was set in 1953. 33 straight days of rain is the record. The forecast predicts two more weeks of rain for Seattle.
Does anyone remember how when I first moved here, I stated that all the stereotypes about Seattle being rainy were false? I lied. Through my teeth.
Also, I have two new roommates: 1. Basil--a 21-yr. old dude, working with the Washington Conservation Corps as part of AmeriCorps. He rebuilds salmon habitats along local rivers. Sweet. Also, he shares a name with one of my very favorite characters, Basil, from Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray". What's up, literature? 2. Mandy--a grad student working on her Master's in public health and epidemiology. Previously, she's worked in New Zealand with Maori Tribal heath and in India, working to improve health conditions for untouchables and women. Now, she's working on a 60-year old study, following the health patterns of American Indians.
Essentially, I'd like to thank craigslist for being a sweet-ass way to find cool-ass roommates. Word.
This weekend, I am going out dancing in Capitol Hill (the artsy/gay/young district of town) with a bunch of cats, including but not limited to a girl named Gia, who is a sassy black lesbian with a weave/braid in the shape of a pompadour (she sometimes calls herself "Black Morrissey"). Um, if I were a girl into girls, I might be in love. So it goes. Other DenAlum in the dance convoy will be Ana Howrani, Logan Favia, Miranda Bodfish, and Matt Christiansen (what's up, Homesteaders?). Serious fun.
Um. I think that's it. My gels have run. I'm going home.
kisses,
Jrodna.
