Utopia is defined as an ideal, or perfect place. It was initially conceived in the writings of Sir Thomas More, sometime in the early 1500's. I heard about it at an early age, and initially thought of it as a wonderous idea, not unlike how I would later come to initially reguard Communism. It just sounded, well, perfect.
You take all the negative qualities that people display, and you simply turn them off. You show them right from wrong, and elaborate as to the simple enjoyments of the right; Time spent in the company of those you love; Satisfaction of a job well done; The knowledge that your efforts have ensured the well-being of others. This was at about 11 years old that I concocted such an idea, albeit in more basic terminology.
Of course, time going on, it became apparent to me that not only is a Utopia obviously impossible, it's a simple band-aid term. People use it as an adjective, rather than a noun. It's a describer, and the description is almost always variable based simply on what that individual would personally desire.
And now, sitting at the ripe and wizened age of 19, I can say with some degree of certainty that there is no sort of perfection. I equate it more to shapes. There is no perfect circle, nor are the edges of an angle ever entirely similar. For every hundred people who wish the world to go in a certain direction, 40 more wish it to go in seven different directions.
The point of all this rambling is that, if you had to envision your personal Utopia, what would it be like? And, it doesn't even have to be a screen shot. It could be a progressive calendar.
