Leave a comment and I will come up with your muse's and my muse's kid. I'm equal opportunity -- adoption counts just as much as organically produced babies (or even surrogacy!). Of course, this is just for fun's sake only, so none of these kids are actually binding to anything. If your muse is in a 'verse with mine, feel free to request a kid from ( Read more... )

It hadn't been easy getting used to being stuck in Versailles with Reinette, but it wasn't exactly a bad thing. She learned to make beds with tucked in corners, and how to wash the underskirts by hand. There were still somethings that Rose didn't agree with, and she felt for the other women that lived in the servants quarters with her. Lucille was barely fifteen and she had been sneaking off to see one of the Kings men for months now. When she confided to Rose that she was to have his child, Rose had to confide in Reinette. She'd seen the other girls, watched them suffer through childbirth and some made it, but most didn't. They were too young, too weak and there wasn't enough actual skill when it came to these things. Reinette took Lucille under her care, but it still wasn't enough.

Her bleeding had been too much and Lucille passed a few moments after the child was born. Rose clutched the infant to her chest trying to stop it from crying so loud. How they'd managed to keep the pregnancy a secret was a small miracle, but now they had to lie even more. Lucille had fallen to illness and her body brought into town where she was found and then returned to her parents for burial. Her infant child now in Rose's care would be taken care of by her and Reinette as well.

Reinette went to Louis, telling her that she wanted the child her servant Rose had, and it was all just a matter of word. Rose cried as the infant was taken from her, sobbing on the shoulder of another girl in the quarters.

A few hours later while Rose was folding sheets in the back halls Reinette clicked her tongue at Rose, "Quite a performance. I did tell you that you could have a place in my theatre."

Rose shook her head putting down the sheets and moving toward Reinette her hand brushing to the top of the little girls head, "What'd you name 'er?"

Reinette smiled handing the infant over to Rose, "Jacquelyn Lucille..."

Taking the girl in her arms Rose swayed a bit back and forth glancing to Reinette, "Yeah?"

Nodding Reinette smiled softly, "You told me once about your mother. That her name was Jackie, yes?"

Smiling Rose brushed a kiss atop the head of the little girl taking in a deep breath of that baby smell, "Yeah, though Jackie not exactly a name fit for Versailles."

Letting out a soft laugh Reinette shook her head, "No I don't believe it would give the same amount of remembrance, though it is a lovely name."

Handing the child back to Reinette, Rose smiled, "She's a lovely girl."
