Fifteen minutes. No more or less, till the fight died out and Yoongi could finally leave the kitchen. His parents sat on the table, once again arguing with him because he was heading to hang out with his friends instead of learning for the university entrance exams.
But who would want to be a fucking lawyer? Music was better. He wanted to be a rapper, but they won´t listen to him. They never listened. It´s for your own good, they said. It was indeed, Yoongi knew.
He also knew they´ll understand. Not today, not tomorrow, but someday, they will for sure.
With a small suitcase in one hand and backpack hanging off from the shoulder on the other side, he slowly walked towards to the train station. Seoul was the destination he was heading for, in hope of fulfilling his dreams of better future…
The first time he visited the actual underground somewhere in the middle of Hongdae, rapping for the very first time in front of so many people, was stressful and hectic. It was also the first time he met Namjoon, a boy with similar interests only one year younger than him. Coming to the big city and not knowing anyone at all was the hardest part. Just the sole fact his speech was accented with heavy Daegu accent, made people look his way whenever he was speaking, which sent shivers of anxiety down his spine. He hated crowds and that was the most absurd part, because how can he be a rapper with phobia like that?
It was Namjoon who approached him first. “You´re new here, right?” he asked, giving him a comfortable pat on the shoulder, presumably because of him looking like nervous wreck.
“Yeah. My first time in front of the crowd actually.” Yoongi replied back with a slightly cracking voice, which he hated himself for, because the other must have been thinking he was weird.
“I know how you feel. I was scared shitless back then. But I had Seokjin with me at least. It must be ten times worse coming alone from a different city.”
“How do you…oh.” it was a stupid question, because it could be heard miles away he´s not from Seoul. It was the stress probably, making him say weird illogical things. That day he also forgot Namjoon´s name because of it.
He was almost shaking when he heard his own name being announced, his first steps on the stage towards the microphone were unstable, hesitant. At some point, panic overwhelmed him, but catching Namjoon´s sight and the smile which he sent his way encouraged him somehow, making him believe in himself.
The performance itself was the best experience in his life, and although he was unsure at the very beginning, the strong beat flowing from the huge speakers all around him made him forget the crowd and words began to slip from his lips. He rapped about things he liked, those he hated, his personality and dreams he wanted to achieve.
The other boy wasn’t there when he came back from the stage, and it made him feel a bit disappointed, because he looked like they could be good friends. He should have remembered his name at least, it would be easier if he did…
He met him again for the second time though. It was a week after, another Friday, and this time Yoongi was a bit more relaxed, because he knew what to expect. He performed a different song, one about school and he catched Namjoon´s gaze in the crowd sometime in the middle of his performance. He was there, on the same spot even after he finished his rapping, greeting him like an old friend instead of just a new acquaintance.
“This is Seokjin and Hoseok.” he said to him, pointing to the two males standing on each side of him aand this time Yoongi instantly remembered their names. It was actually impossible to forget, because the trio was a bunch of idiots, when put together. Not in a bad way, of course.
They knew each other for few years and were apparently working under some label, as Yoongi found out later, when they stopped at the empty bar down the road. It wasn’t that hard to talk to them, it wasn´t hard at all because they were around his age and living in the same circumstances, chasing the same dreams, and it was like finding good old friends, a reunion. Or family.
It sort of became a habit for them, to meet almost every day in the evening, whether on the scene or just at that small bar, which they later began to call “theirs. It was always about Yoongi and Namjoon trying to write lyrics under the influence of soju and never ending lame jokes coming from Hoseok, which was a trigger to a chain reaction of complaints coming from Seokjin for their immature behavior.
On one particular night, when Yoongi was completely wasted and half asleep and the state the others were in, wasn´t any better, Seokjin proposed that he should join their company.
“What?” the second eldest asked in disbelief, feeling completely sober all of a sudden.
“It´s not announced yet, but Bang PD-nim wants to open an audition. It´s our time to debut now.” Seokjin says it as a matter of fact, while the others are looking at him like he splashed them with ice cold water right in their faces.
“We could debut as a group, making tons of money.” he adds. There is an unfamiliar glistening in Namjoon´s eyes, and for a short while Yoongi thinks he looks fragile, the complete opposite of his normal appearance.
“We could release our own album, and then hold a concert, but not in front a hundred people. Ten thousand…” he muses, gazing somewhere behind Seokjin.
“Yeah.” the eldest says as he plays with the bottleneck. “We could…”
“So are you going to participate?” Hoseok breaks the comfortable silence a while later, directing his question at Yoongi, who was still spacing out.
“I..don´t know.” he admits. Being an idol is not what he wanted, it´s the exact opposite. He was too lazy to work his ass off like other celebrities, and he wouldn’t trade his precious sleep for hours of traveling crumpled in car. And there’s the dancing and make up too. No way…
“You should try at least. You’re free to quit whenever you want, until you sign the contract you know.” Seokjin was prying now and Yoongi actually found himself reconsidering the whole idea once again, probably because of the alcohol flowing through his veins…

“I can´t believe I said yes to this shit.” Yoongi hisses mentally, as he walks into the small room, where four people are sitting at a small table, looking expectantly at him. He feels uncomfortable under their gazes and wants to leave the room as soon as possible and never return.
One of the judges, a half bald man with scary face is staring creepily at him and he realizes it must be the chairman, as Hoseok described him the other day. They ask him to cover a song of his choice eventually, and he decides to do Swimming Pools by Kendrick Lammar, because they made a remake of it with Namjoon and Seokjin a few days ago.
He didn’t notice when his rapping changed from the original lyrics to the ones he and Namjoon had written but the jury seemed completely satisfied, as they said he was the most original and the best one they´ve had had yet.
It was only later, at their bar when they were drinking soju again, that it clicked to him. He actually made it in.
“You have to call me sunbae now.” Namjoon laughs at him as he takes a sip from his drink. His eyes are shining again and Yoongi feels weird for noticing it.
“Fuck you, sunbae.” he hisses back at him, not afraid of the reaction he´ll get back for it, because Namjoon is not the one who gets offended easily. It feels odd, that they know each other so well after such a short time. It feels even odder, now that he knows they will move in together soon. There is that strange feeling in his stomach, something similar to being scared shitless and excited at the same time like when you are standing somewhere high, only a few inches separating you from falling down. Not that he was doing that often or something…
Namjoon shoots something which sounds dangerously like “you wish” back at him and he feels the ends of his ears heat up, because it´s completely and utterly stupid. They order a few more rounds and drink until the very late night, celebrating their union, as Seokjin named it.
They get wasted eventually, and the bartender refuses to serve them any more soju, so they decide to crash at Namjoon´s place. They stop at a convenience store on their way, grabbing some snacks because alcohol on an empty stomach is a bitch.
Another thing, Yoongi notices about Namjoon is that he is the type who destroys everything. Or not destroys directly, but somehow things surrounding him often break apart on their own, or people get injuries just by sitting near him, like Hoseok, who almost lost an eye because “look, the beer is half price”. They almost end up breaking the whole shelf of cans and the storekeeper ends up kicking them out whilst shouting madly, but Yoongi can´t bring himself to care, because he´s not alone in this, and it´s the greatest feeling he’s ever had. He even laughs at Hoseok´s awkward jokes, as he drags a wasted Seokjin across the street to Namjoon´s apartment with the latter´s help. Yeah, he´s definitely not alone in this, he thinks with a smirk plastered across his face…
