mailart, home, and more poems

so, i've been getting a lot of mailart, which i'll be scanning and posting soon. hopefully before the weekend. i just got back from my sister's wedding in vegas, and i'll be posting some photos, too. vegas was awesome, just awesome. in other news, i'm thinking of moving back to the 'ville. it's going to happen sooner or later, and it might just be sooner. my biggest reasons for moving back are... family (my sister might have babies in the next year or two), job (i don't have a permanent one with benefits in boston), and transportation (i can't afford / am afraid of flying back and forth from home to boston)... there are other important reasons why too. tbev and manda are in the vicinity, and an oberlin friend is there too, but I would hate to leave my posse in boston. I just got here.... i'm not sure what to do, but i haven't made any decision yet.

continuing on the audre theme:

If You Come Softly

If you come as softly
As wind within the trees
You may hear what I hear
See what sorrow sees.

If you come as lightly
As threading dew
I will take you gladly
Nor ask more of you.

You may sit beside me
Silent as a breath
Only those who stay dead
Shall remember death.

And if you come I will be silent
Nor speak harsh words to you.
I will not ask you why, now.
Or how, or what you do.

We shall sit here, softly
Beneath two different years
And the rich earth between us
Shall drink our tears.
