Is EVERYTHING HERE a legitimate response to the question, which are my favorites?

Oh hon, this is everything my Buffy-loving heart could possible desire! Where do I even begin with the great? The range of techniques here and the mastery of each one is astonishing. THis is a set to cherish. Cold as Ice, Partial face (GREAT crop!) Hope, Primary colors (darker than I would normally like but it just absolutely works here), Joy, Two, Cat1 Cat2 makes me scream with delight because of the vintage coloring, AC 4 and 5 (off center tight crops and bright eye color are my jam), and AC 4-5.

BTW - the odd thing is that the first icon in each row looks a bigger size to the rest in each row but if I right click, the icons come up from their original source and look fine. Does it look that way to you too?

I agree about Primary Colors. It's still hard for me to make my icons darker but I've seen that sometimes my icons can be too light so I'm working on the shadows :)

Oh yeah, it looks awful but it's probably this layout that makes it look like that??? Have no idea why.

I should also mention Behind - which I appreciate now more than I did last night, and a key mark of a strong icon (and set) for me is that I want to look at it again and again, and I find new things each time - there's a lot of "there there" in this set.

(This is probably going to sound weird, but looking at this set and spikesredqueen's, I'm suddenly ok with having dropped out this round. i know I couldn't have done what I've seen so far, and that's ok, I get to just sit back and enjoy this time around!)

It's still hard for me to make my icons darker but I've seen that sometimes my icons can be too light so I'm working on the shadows :)You've succeeded here, I think. Visual legibility is a thing with me (esp with bifocals) but you've got some lovely deep blacks with no pixelation within the shadows (i'm struggling with that too

I think you could have done it just fine. You've improved so much in so little time and besides, everyone has their own style and that's great :)

Thank you hon! This comm has been a HUGE reason I've improved but you're very kind!

I know that there are places I can't take my work without a better program (not making excuses) and that's ok.

Given the high levels of stress at work right now, I think I was right to drop out this round - one less stressor.

The text in the icon says just that! Good catch!

Full disclosure - I enlarged the screen a couple of times to catch maybe one or two words. I think i'm getting to a point though where I'm relaxing about text as a decorative/atmospheric element and not necessarily "legible". But even without the text, the image in the icon is incredibly expressive.

I really do love this set a LOT.

I know about that. I keep telling myself I should "get" a more advanced version of Photoshop, but then I never do it.
Yeah, stressful time do not go well with icon-making :)

Yeah, I use unreadable text sometimes. It's just so the icon doesn't look that empty so most of the time I don't care what's written of it, even if I try to make it fit with the general atmosphere of the icon.

There's a more advanced version?

Eh, you make incredible icons, I don't think you need a more advanced one. (if you want it, that's another matter. My sweetie used to love the full version of PS but isn't willing to pay what they charge for it now; and PS Elements is not all that advanced after all. She finds it unwieldy and counter-intutitive.)

Next month my hours should lighten up and I anticipate being able to sign on for round 8. But until then, I look forward to the voting process, it'll be fun to see the sets side by side. It's like seeing them entirely anew.

The latest version is Photoshop CC 2014 (15.0).

I have 7.0, which is old..very old ahah

I understand that. I'm afraid I'll take too much time to familiarize with the new Photoshop and that's one of the things that it's holding me back. But I guess I'll try it someday :)
