So, this isn't really a quote of Damon about Elena while talking to someone else but if wasn't specified and this is actually my favorite quote about Elena since she barely talks lol
This shouldn't need an explanation. It's a very important moment in Damon's life when he accepts his love for Elena, where he needs to tell her and tell himself how much he loves her, how much he's gonna be selfless for her and for himself as well by compelling her to forget. It's a radical change in his life, he can now stop pretending to be the bad guy and realize he can love and that this love is so pure and whole that he can't ruin Elena's life, he can't put her in that position. There's something greater than his feelings and that's Elena.
It's the real Damon talking here, the one who doesn't need to put on a façade for other people, all his walls come down and all his buried feelings. It's an heartbreaking, bittersweet moment and it's THE moment when everybody realized they couldn't deny Damon's feelings were real.
I don't even know what else to say about this scene cause it speaks for itself, really.
