“Cell City” poem-Membrane Metropolis

~Membrane Metropolis~

There once was an organelle from Membrane Metropolis
Helps out control center, just like Stephanopoulos
Sends proteins to golgi apparatus to be redistributed
Produces and stores lipids, which are later contributed
Has more chemical reactions than Mr. Tinervia’s curriculum
It’s so cool they made two, Membrane Metropolis’s endoplasmic reticulum

But that’s not all cell ‘cities’ use to function
Another organelle stands guard, protecting communities from corruption
Allowing nutrients to enter, and removes any waste
When our Metropolis is threatened, it always makes haste
Keeping the balance, it’s homeostasis that’s maintained
The guardians of our city, the cellular membrane

Without the “sorters” of the cell, though, there’d be only disarray
So it’s thanks to this last organelle, that the city circulates
Packing proteins to redistribute, its job entails much
Membrane Metropolis’s post office, the golgi apparatus

Together they work, these organelles three
Fulfilling functions of the cell, coexisting peacefully
With many other organelles, they together work as one
They make up the cell, functioning as a city runs.
