Which gets to the next question: who would you feel most comfortable discussing the Iraq issue with: parents, friends, teachers, classmates? Why? Classmates, because you get a lot of input from everyone, and you get to hear different views and reasonings. Plus you find out a lot more from a class than with a parent or a friend. Plus one on one conversations can be swayed a lot to not make the other person feel bad, and sometimes people get nervous when talking about politics or the government and they don't voice their opinions as much. class discussions are definitely better.
Do you know anybody who is in the Army and currently in Iraq right now? If so, what is their relation to you? no i dont.
(This question applies to Tam kids primarily): What is your opinion about the involvement Pomme and David took in the military recruitment information issue? What is your opinion about the senior citizens at the Redwoods that hold anti-war demonstrations on Fridays? I think that its great what they've been doing, they stepped up to help everyone else out. I don't think that the senior citzens really "help" much, it doesn't increase anti-war-ism. because we already live in the most liberal area around. But it's a good thing for them, to be able to show what they believe in. They look happy and content so I'm not against it, it isn't hurting anyone.
If there were any opportunity for you to get involved in a cause, what do you think it would be? Would you be more willing to get involved in a cause that directly affects your community or one that impacts the nation? It depends on what kind of cause it is, and what i'd be doing. If we're talking about like fundraisers and such, then of course, i've ran a couple to help the nation out, and i'd do the same for the community, but if you're talking about involving myself in something like the war, forget about it, i dont think that wars fix the problem, and I'm not going to involve myself in soething i don't believe in, even if it supposedly "helps the nation" or is my "civic duty".
And last, but not least: How do you think teens can get more involved in what’s going on around them? To what extend should they get involved? I think teens should do whatever they feel like doing, they shouldn't be involved in protests because their friends are. They shouldn't get drafted cuz the country says they have to. If they want to get involved, it should be full willing. Teens can get involved from a small level by just talking about what they believe in, to demonstrating, or even going to war. It all depends on what they want to do.
