I'm originally from WV and after having lived in various other places, I now live there again. Even when we lived in Guam and Alaska, we would always come back for the summers. In all that time, I never saw a black bear here. Not one! Everyone said there were plenty of bears around, and we would occasionally find a tree with claw marks or something like that, but we never saw an actual bear.
Until this week.
I saw my first black bear ever run across the road in front of the Fiesta restaurant last weekend. It was a small one, about the size of a dog. And today, I saw one about twice that big run across a field. Bears, man!
I don't know what's bringing them out, but this week I also finished a painting of a bear. The first one of those I've ever done as well. Hmmm.
EDIT: Changed the subject because I'm a bad person.
