reviving an old fandom

So this weekend I've spent most of the time reviving an old fandom, Dr. Quinn. I was worried when I got the DVDs of the first season. I mean I haven't seen it for more than 10 years, there was a risk that it would be totally terrible, especially since I've grown up a bit since I saw it. I must say though, that I still like it. Sure Mike is a bit of a Mary Sue and Sully would have looked better without the mullet, but overall it's a really nice nostalgic experience. And yes, I just saw the first episode where they kiss, and I got goosebumps, and then to imagine what a long time it took for them to actually get together officially. One thing has changed though, I thought Sully looked so nice when he shaved, but now I prefer his stubble.

And there's been more hurt/comfort than I remember. Just the first half of the season and Sully has gotten beaten up, fallen down cliffs, been paralysed and I don't know what. (his shirt isn't white though, rather cream/beige for those who wonder ;) )

The only thing I get a bit annoyed with is the lack of corsets. Sure they talk about corsets, but it's obvious they aren't wearing them. So many of the dresses would look even better with some proper undergarment. It was quite funny Friday evening the showed Maverick (the film) and the difference between Jane Seymore's clothes and Jodie Foster's was quite astonishing. Now Jane Seymore is thin it's not that she needs a corset for her waist, but there is something lacking in how her cltohes hang on her.

Well except for that I haven't done much this weekend, Saturday I was out drinking coffee and spending some money on things I didn't need with my sister, and today I have managed to cut out all the pieces for my ballgown. Tonight I'm off to eat dinner with the parents, so I don't think I'll have time to do any sewing, and I should buy some new needles for the machine.

Oh, yeah, one more thing. I talked to my other sister and we have agree to both sigh up for Kort-Vasan, a 30 km cross country skirace. 30 k isn't very long, but it should give me a carrot/whip to actually excercise now when I've stopped playing bandy.

drool, family
