I hate ambulances.

I decided the other day that riding in an ambulance is not fun.

Especially when you're strapped down to a stretcher, writhing in pain, and having an EMT shove a needle in your arm.

Monday night/technically Tuesday morning, I collapsed at work.  Passed out, pretty much.  My coworker caught me just before I actually hit the floor.  I had been pushing carts that night and it triggered a lot of bleeding, a cyst or two to burst, and intense pain.  INTENSE.  So, I passed out.

Next thing I know, I'm on a rolling chair, dry heaving, crying and hurting so goddamn bad I could've just died.  My manager in charge called an ambulance and my coworkers surrounded me, trying to keep me calm because apparently I went really pale, then extremely red as I went into hyperventilation/panic attack.

Through the vertigo, nausea and pain I somehow remember telling the EMT Tom that my period was 3-3.5 weeks late and I had no idea what was going on.  He said that I was likely pregnant.  Great, thank you.  I mentioned that I have polycystic ovary syndrome.  Duly noted.

Once in the hospital, they loaded me up with nausea and vertigo medications via my IV as my startled coworkers started to appear.  Bobby showed up, too, and he ended up passing out from all the needles and anxiety which subsequently triggered another panic attack on my part.  It worried the hell out of me.  I thought he was dying.

They ran tests and stuff.  No, I'm not pregnant (thank god!).  However, I apparently do have a rather severe urinary tract infection, which is most likely moving into my kidneys at this point.  It triggered a flareup of the polycystic.  4 hours later, they released me.

Since then, I have been in extreme pain.  I called off work tonight and I'm headed to the doctor in about 9 hours to make sure my kidneys are doing okay.  Right now I'm struggling to not take pain meds because without them I pretty much lay in bed and cry.  It's ridiculous.

So, here's to hoping that I don't have a kidney infection.
