does anyone realise that throughout the state of pennsylvania (or at least as far as i've driven into it...) there are not only road signs indicating each mile on the interstate, but also mile markers every single tenth of a mile?? ...so that at any point in driving north or south, you're guaranteed to see at least three green signs ahead of you, all of which count up or down by a tenth...
counting them down amused me for a good hour or so:
139 9/10
139 8/10
139 7/10
139 6/10
I bet nobody can guess what the next one will be... nope its not 139 1/2, its:
139 5/10
i must admit that after a while, the signs changed. they no longer counted by tenths as above, but with our lovely decimal system:
49. 6
49. 5
49. 4
and so on, and so on... i'm sure you get it...

please, can anyone tell me why these pennsylvanians thought this would be a good use of tax money?? just wondering...
