P.S. Sudoku puzzles rock

Wow, my last post was pretty...angry. You'll be happy to know that I am not quite so mad anymore. haha Actually, I wrote that right after someone keyed/vandalized my car, so I suppose I had good reason to be furious. : )

We have 20 days of school left. 20. Twenty. XX. That's pretty crazy.

Everything is coming and going so quickly--I've been really busy! On Tuesday I played in the RRISD "All Stars" woodwind quintet at a fancy teacher banquet in the Marriott at La Frontera. THAT was pretty awesome. Afterwards, Mr. Sedatole took us to TGI Friday's, where we got to order ANYTHING we wanted...because the district was paying for it. AWESOME.

Then there's school. Blah. I took the last boring TAKS test of my entire life!!! But even TAKS wasn't so bad because MR. DIMICELI was in my room!! Hilarious. Now I have a bunch of upcoming tests to worry about in ALL of my classes (including a DBQ for Dr. Conn tomorrow), and don't forget about the AP tests next week! Today I turned in my tremendous ABC project for Mrs. Ollmann's class. THAT will make life better, too.

Despite all of the work (and also the lack of this little thing called interest in my classes, I am happy. Drum major clinics have started, and I am sooo excited about the audition, which happens to be three weeks from today. It's so easy to get caught up in the whole "competition" for the position...criticizing the other people who are trying out, comparing yourself to them constantly, etc. But yesterday I realized that this drum major audition is EXACTLY like the other auditions I've had this year. The only person I need to worry about is ME. I just need to have confidence in myself. After all, I'm the only person that I can change. (Does that make any sense? lol) If I approach this audition the way I approached Region/Area, I'll be okay with whatever the outcome is. The audition process is so much more fun when you approach it positively, anyway. Instead of hoping that other people mess up, support them--they've worked hard, too! After all, if you are truly confident in yourself, then you'll be happy with the results, no matter what.

This has been a random lesson from Rachel... lol Now let's see if I can practice what I preach. I KNOW how hard it can be, but I think it's going to be a crucial skill for my future. : )

Good luck, everyone!!! (with drum major, tests, school, whatever it may be!)
