Rrrrrgh. I have, once again, grossly underestimated how horrible Dallas radio stations really are. I like to have some music going while I work, but I forgot my cds, so I thought maybe the radio would suffice. So far I've heard maybe 3 good songs in 3 hours: Radiohead- There There, The Beatles- While my Guitar Gently Weeps, and some Led Zeppelin song. I'll talk about There There in a minute, but dammit!! The classic rock station pissed me off royally by playing Billy Idol, who is SO NOT CLASSIC, Boston, and Journey mixed in with the most boring songs by The Eagles and some others in the usual "classic" repertoire. Journey was the clencher, causing me to find another station.
So I changed it to the alternative station in hopes of hearing something new by a band I actually like. It's maybe a 1 in 20 chance if you can stand the rest of the stuff.
Well, I can't. They played songs from 5 years ago, like that shitty as hell one called Shimmmer by... nobody. Right now, I think it's a really old Offspring song. Hm I could be wrong. Ahh, now the new torture by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Between a Blink 182 and Oleander song they played There There, which I hadn't heard yet!! (The announcer had a theme going at that time, and it ended up being that each band has a Tom/Thom in it. She named in full the other two guys and then trailed off before mentioning Thom Yorke's last name, surprise.)
About There There, I'm confused. Granted, I only heard it once, but it was sort of weird for Radiohead. Very poppy at first, but not terribly melodic, and Thom's voice sounds sort of strained. Some weird guitary thing near the end that I couldn't quite hear. I'm not sure I like it much right now, but I'll give it an untainted listen later.
I'm really hungry because it's almost 4 and I haven't eaten today. I took my last exam this morning, and I'm not sure how I did. I probably got a B, which is all I needed to get an A, so. Where's the relief?? My exams are all finished... Maybe it'll come once I get home from work, and relax. Or after I get my grades? Snort.
I gotta call my cousin and see if he's planning on going to the Blood Brothers show in Denton on Saturday. I'll try to convince him to go with me if he's not already going. I'll be at Mom's anyway doing laundry and visiting, so there's a car available!! I'd love to see them again, but it'll probably be a way bigger show this time given their growing popularity. Anyway, yeah.
